Thankful for Winter Running

Sometimes we complain about the cold but here is better way to think about running in winter . . .

This shoutout was posted on LinkedIn by one of our coaching clients, Kathy LeMay from Massachusetts (where it gets really cold!).

Kathy LeMay

“Thanks to Coach Jennifer and MTA I’ve kept to my running plan designed by Jen in “feels like -11″, snow squalls and with an ice-covered face. I’ve been given the tools, tips and strategies to stay strong, safe and healthy. They’ve reminded me how lucky I am to be able to run, to absorb winter’s quiet, see roads I would not have traveled and meet neighbors I wouldn’t otherwise have met.

I’ve benefitted from the kindness of drivers who’ve seen me coming down winding roads and who’ve given me a little extra space (it means so much) and grateful for the waves from mail carriers, UPS and Fed Ex delivery drivers and the good folks fixing phone lines and downed wires. And, I’ve literally been stopped in my tracks by frozen waterfalls, sheets of ice trying to break and move down rivers, and the Earth in hibernation.

Here’s to the coaches who help us see that which has always been there: our potential and the world around us.” -Kathy LeMay

We’ve been long time fans of Ryan Hall and always hoped to have him on the podcast.

Ryan is a former professional runner, 2x Olympian, American record holder in the half marathon, and the only American who has run a sub 2:05 marathon. These days he runs to raise money for great causes.

In this conversation you will hear how Ryan manages pain in the marathon and how he reframes the word “hard”. Plus, you’ll hear the story of how, at 13 years old, he had faith that one day he would run with the best in the world and use his running to help others.

Lot’s of great stories and tips in this interview! Continue Reading →

First Marathon Done!

Here at MTA our mission is to help you conquer the marathon and change your life. The first step is believing that you have what it takes. Then you commit to train.

Huge congrats to Academy member Christie Youngblood for taking on the challenge to train for a marathon and finishing strong at the Honolulu Marathon! She dealt with 16 miles worth of rain but still remained positive.

My first marathon is done! I finished in 4:47:38 and beat my goal of 5 hours. It rained for the first 16 miles, but at mile 20 I saw the most beautiful rainbow! Angie & Trevor thank you for the amazing podcast and all of the advice. I found the magic in the misery and I am more proud of myself than I have ever been. I don’t think I am even close to being done and I cannot wait to see what is next!” #Ihavewhatittakes
