Thanks to our client Diana Callahan for sending in this wonderful note about MTA Coaching! We were able to help her train to break 3:40 in the marathon at the age of 59. She writes,
“I wanted to take a moment to share how incredible my experience has been working with Coach Henry.
I started training with him last October with two big goals in mind: to run the Tokyo Marathon on March 1, 2026, and the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2026. Most importantly, I wanted to arrive at both start lines healthy and if everything came together, I was hoping to break 3:40 in one of them.
Tokyo was a great experience, but it wasn’t my day time-wise. Boston, however, was everything I had hoped for. I ran a 3:38:51, and I truly credit Coach Henry for helping me get there.
Structured Training and Support
His training block was solid and thoughtfully structured. He kept my weekly mileage at a level that was challenging yet completely doable, and somehow even got me to love pushups and side planks. Beyond the workouts, he brought the perfect balance of encouragement and restraint. I know many coaches are careful about calling specific times, but when I asked him if he thought I could hit 3:40, he simply said, “3:3X here we come.” That belief stuck with me.
Coach Henry also has a great sense of humor. When I would complain about it being “freezing” outside, he’d remind me it was 25 degrees where he lives in the Midwest—which always made me laugh and kept things in perspective.
What really sets him apart is his positivity and genuine belief in his athletes. He encouraged me to dial in my fueling (including convincing me I needed more carbs!) and helped me find the right gel after a bit of trial and error. He is funny, consistent, supportive, and deeply invested in his athletes’ success.
This has been the best coaching experience I have had, and I am incredibly grateful. Thank you for having such an outstanding coach on your team.
I will be turning 60 years old in July and you and your team have taught me that I can do hard things!”
Take Care and Keep Up the Awesome work,
-Diana Callahan
