Congrats to our client Adrianne on completing the Boston Marathon, a dream race! She writes,
“Boston marathon 2025! 🦄 I can’t believe this was real 💙 💛 It took four marathons to get a qualifying time (3:27) THANK GOD FOR COACH ABBY. It would NEVER have happened without her & $12,410 of fundraising for In My Running Shoes Charity to get here.
The first 4+ miles really are downhill, steeper than I anticipated and it was difficult not to get too excited but I think I did a good job. It was warm given training through Massachusetts winter but perfect for Boston. They do have more water stops than most races although, I still recommend bringing more.
I tried to bring sunscreen to athletes village they took it away bc they don’t allow the cans – however they have huge pumps of sunscreen right before the start line.
The energy in the towns is CRAZY through all the towns it’s as if the world stops and nothing else matters. There are some SERIOUS ragers out there and so many people handing out anything you need. There are people every inch of the course. The crowd was so loud on Hereford turning to Boylston it sounded like a stadium. I can’t believe it. I did my best to stay present throughout the entire run and soak up every possible second possible and I have no regrets. I wanted to say hi to my spectators, take pictures, and pet all the dogs.
I did underestimate the Newton hills despite practicing on them every weekend. Definitely not a course that a attempt a PR for a lot of reasons. 1) training in 20 degrees then 65 on race day 2) 5 miles of hills 3) water stops slow you down weather or not you take water even if you stay in the middle. Water stops are also a fall hazard with cups everywhere.
The fuel situation was tricky with the busses and time waiting in athletes village but from reading and listening to what other people said helped. I did give up my throw away clothes and food too early not realizing how many opportunities there would be to toss them later.
MTA I have learned so much through you!! I can do hard things!”
