26.2 miles at 26 weeks pregnant!

Congrats to our client Alison on conquering the marathon with a baby on board! She writes,

Hi MTA Team,

I want to start by saying thank you to the MTA podcast and to Coach Cindy for the wisdom, inspiration, and strategies that helped me conquer the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon!

Running has always been a big part of my family story—my mom and my aunt both ran marathons while they were pregnant—and I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps when my time came. The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon lined up perfectly, giving me the chance to run 26.2 miles at 26 weeks pregnant! It also marked two special milestones: my 10th marathon and my 6th state on the lifelong journey to run a marathon in all 50 states.

Coach Cindy was incredible. She offered insight into training while pregnant and gave me the confidence to pursue this goal wisely and safely. My first trimester was tough, but I was so grateful for a smooth second trimester that allowed me to gradually increase mileage and keep chasing my dream.

Race day couldn’t have been better—perfect weather, a flat and friendly course, and an amazing community of runners. My goal was to celebrate the training and the journey, and that’s exactly how it felt. The crowd’s energy was contagious, and a highlight was meeting another pregnant runner out on the course! My mom was my rock and support crew that day—seeing her out there brought me so much comfort and joy.

I felt strong through all 26.2 miles and crossed the finish line in under five and a half hours—grateful, proud, and deeply inspired.

More than anything, I hope my story encourages other women to keep chasing their dreams through every season of life. Up next for me: a fun Turkey Trot, a festive Christmas 5K, and then some strength and mobility work before baby arrives in February!

Thank you again for helping make this milestone so meaningful.

Thank you,

-Allison
